Global DAWN

The Emergence of the Young Church

To me, one of the most important and striking features of our Global DAWN Network consultations in India, Nepal, and Myanmar is the presence in large numbers of the younger generation (those younger than 30). It is the reflection of a new, excited, energized church around the globe. These young faces are glowing with the presence of Jesus in their lives and their walk mirrors their zeal to be trained to go…make disciples of ALL nations.
Today, we are in Siliguri at the foot of the beautiful Himalayas…in the chicken neck of India which bridges the primary body of the country to what is called West Bengal bordering Bhutan and Nepal. Pollution prevents us from seeing the grandeur of the mountains but we know they’re there. We also know that in those mountains are hundreds of people groups who have never even heard the name of Jesus. In West Bengal the number of unreached people groups is well over 500 and in Bhutan, the country's 45 identified people groups are almost entirely lost.
What does this mean for the emerging church? This generation comes with the enthusiasm of youth…and young bodies. The mantle is being handed over to those that can traverse the hills and mountains of Northeast India and Bhutan walking from village to village telling the story of Jesus, bringing the light and hope He offers.
Pray with us for our new, young friends as they carry the torch. We’ll be there to encourage and equip as we train them along with their mentors and coaches.
