The very hot and humid weather in Yangon, Myanmar did nothing to deter God from working mightily in the three-day Global DAWN Network conference of almost 200 pastors and church planters. From the moment we walked into the gathering place to the glorious sound of worship in their native tongue, to the last goodbyes three days later, God has been honored.
There is now a national Myanmar Peoples Network with a GDN leader and associates in all five regions of the country. The focus is to bring Christ to the remaining 49 unreached people groups (currently, with little to no Christian presence) each of which is within reach of one of the five regional networks. Research will be completed soon and by summer, each regional group will have met to set strategy and goals for reaching their regions Unreached People Groups. This is an incredible and effective approach to reaching these UPG’s for Christ. In the course of the three days, there was opportunity for teaching the simple but profound tool of orality—passing along the gospel through story telling, encouraging, challenging, feeding, and equipping these precious, dedicated, and determined brothers and sisters, who are often isolated and oppressed. Several have recently had their churches, orphanages, ministries forcibly shut down by the government. But they press forward, passionate to see the gospel permeate the people of this country. Pray for them. Pray for their families and ministries. And pray for their efforts in saturating the darkness of their land with the light of Christ. PRAISE for the incredible ways God moved in the last several days in a country where there is no known ministry, other than Global DAWN Network, facilitating the reaching of the many lost peoples on a national level.
